Big-Box Anchor Remodel
A 132,000 SF occupied big-box remodel — new storefront, restrooms, and full interior refresh — completed in seven months of night work with the store open every business day.
Client: National Retailer · Location: San Diego County, CA
The project
A full interior and storefront remodel of a 132,000 SF anchor store: new entry vestibule and glazing, restroom rebuilds, flooring replacement across the sales floor, lighting retrofit, and a refreshed décor package — with the store trading every single day.
What made it work
Night work with morning-proof standards. Every overnight shift ended with a documented walk: floor transitions guarded, fixtures reset, dust contained. The store’s daily readiness score — the client’s metric — never dropped below target.
Flooring in fields, not aisles. Rather than chasing aisle-by-aisle sections, EWB negotiated department-scale merchandise moves with store ops, cutting the flooring schedule by five weeks and halving the number of transitions shoppers ever saw.
Hard-bid discipline. Won competitively, delivered without a single contractor-driven change order.
Outcome
Completed on schedule and on the bid number. The client added EWB to its regional remodel bench for the following program year.
